A heartbreaking tragedy occurred today, April 7, 2025, in Misesi Sub-location, Nyamoronga area, when a Grade 5 student from Kiabusura Primary School, Bomakombi Bonchari, drowned in a mining quarry.
The boy was with three other friends, making up a group of four, who had gone to swim at the quarry, a location known for its deep and dangerous waters.
Despite being accompanied by his three friends, the boy tragically drowned to death while swimming. The mining quarry, though a popular spot for locals, is an unsafe place for swimming due to the depth and conditions of the water.
The police arrived shortly after the incident and have begun investigating the cause of the drowning. Authorities are urging the community, especially parents, to be cautious and to ensure children stay away from hazardous locations like mining quarries.
The community is in mourning as they come to terms with the tragic loss of the young boy. Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family and friends during this difficult time.
