YouTuber MrBeast Turns a Forgotten Kenyan School into a Beacon of Hope, While Leaders Watch from a Distance
MrBeast transformed a struggling school in Narok, Kenya, by launching a feeding programme, donating desks, and building modern farming infrastructure. His efforts boosted school attendance and brought hope to an entire community. Kenyans praised him while calling out local leaders for years of neglect.

Popular American YouTuber MrBeast, born James Stephen, has won the hearts of Kenyans after his recent visit to Oloirien Primary School in Narok County. His arrival marked the beginning of life-changing improvements for both the school and the surrounding community.

Mr Beast visits a school in Kenya, offerred meals to students, builds a kitchen, bought new desks, dug a well and donated a tractor and a truck

He started by launching a feeding programme that caused school attendance to skyrocket. Many learners who had previously stayed at home due to hunger now had a reason to come to school. With full stomachs, the children could finally focus on learning.

MrBeast didn’t stop at food. He noticed the pupils had been studying while seated on cold, dusty floors, often sharing desks meant for two between four students. His team responded by delivering a truck full of new desks, sparking joy and cheers from the children.

To make sure the food programme was sustainable, he went a step further and provided farming equipment, including a tractor. The surrounding community was trained and equipped with farming tools and technology to boost food production. A section of the new farm was set aside just to grow food for the school.

He built a bigger, modern kitchen to help serve two meals a day. He also added a well, a water tank, and a greenhouse to support the food system. Before leaving, MrBeast stocked the school with enough food to prepare 100,000 meals.

All these projects were funded through the views his YouTube videos get. MrBeast shared that every person who watches helps fuel more giving—more farms, more meals, and more smiles.

Outside Kenya, he’s done similar work in places like Ghana, Uganda, Somalia, Zimbabwe, and Cameroon—building schools, drilling boreholes, donating bicycles and learning materials, even building bridges.

Many Kenyans took to social media, praising MrBeast while also pointing fingers at local leaders. Some expressed frustration that a foreign YouTuber had done what elected leaders had failed to do for decades. One user even joked that Kenyan politicians might try to claim credit by launching the projects themselves.

MrBeast’s YouTube channel has over 380 million subscribers, and through that platform, he’s making real change. By simply watching his videos, people across the world are helping improve lives in places that have long been forgotten.
