Missing Activist Ndiangui Kinyagia Found, Family Lawyer Confirms
Missing activist Ndiangui Kinyagia is well, healthy and safe; family lawyer Wahome Thuku says he hid for safety, to be presented before court today.

Blogger and activist Ndiangui Kinyagia, who had been missing for over 10 days, is alive and safe, according to the family’s lawyer Wahome Thuku. In a public statement made via X(Twitter )on Thursday, July 3, Thuku revealed that Ndiangui had reached out to a close family member on the evening of Tuesday, July 1, confirming that he was alive and in good health.

The lawyer noted that Ndiangui is currently in hiding at an undisclosed location, citing fear for his life. His disappearance had sparked widespread concern across the country, especially among human rights organizations, civil society groups, and members of the activist community.

Many had demanded urgent investigations into his whereabouts, fearing he may have been abducted or harmed.

According to Thuku, the decision to remain in hiding was made by Ndiangui himself due to credible threats he believed could compromise his safety.

While details surrounding those threats remain unclear, the family has expressed gratitude for the public’s concern and support during the difficult period.

The family is now urging for restraint, requesting that Ndiangui’s privacy be respected as they assess the best way forward. They have also called on relevant authorities to guarantee his safety should he choose to come out of hiding.

Activists and Kenyans online welcomed the news with a mixture of relief and continued concern, calling for stronger protections for individuals who speak out on social and political issues.

This case is the latest in a string of similar incidents that have raised questions about the safety and freedom of expression for activists and bloggers in the country.

More updates are expected from the family and their legal team in the coming days.
