Robert Burale Sues Alex Mwakideu and Sister Rozina Over Defamation

The Kenyan motivational speaker and pastor Robert Burale has taken legal action against Radio 47 presenter Alex Mwakideu and his sister Rozina Mwakideu, accusing them of defamation following a viral podcast interview that sparked heated online debate.

    🧨 The Lawsuit

According to court documents filed at the Milimani Magistrate’s Court, Burale claims that a podcast video released on October 4, 2025, on Alex Mwakideu’s platform contained false and damaging statements that injured his reputation.

In the video, Rozina — who was once married to Burale — spoke candidly about her past relationship, calling it “the darkest season of my life” and “the biggest mistake I ever made.” Her emotional revelations spread rapidly online, drawing thousands of comments and reactions across Kenyan social media.

Burale argues that the statements were malicious, misleading, and defamatory, portraying him in a false light and causing irreparable harm to his image as a pastor, public figure, and life coach.

⚖️ What Burale Wants the Court to Do

Through his lawyers, Burale is asking the court to issue several urgent orders:

    • Immediate takedown of the viral video from YouTube and all other social platforms.
    • An injunction restraining the Mwakideus and their agents from republishing or discussing the interview.
    • A public apology and retraction, admitting that the remarks were false and defamatory.
    • Compensation for the reputational damage caused.

The court is currently reviewing the interim application, meaning temporary orders could be granted while the full case proceeds.

    🎙️ Mwakideu Responds

In response, Alex Mwakideu has publicly denied any wrongdoing.
He insists that he did not script or anticipate what his sister would say during the podcast, describing it as “an honest and unscripted conversation.”

“I didn’t set up Burale. I didn’t even know what my sister would talk about. She just wanted to share her story,”
Alex Mwakideu, speaking on Radio 47.

He also admitted he was aware of some public claims against Burale but said he had no prior knowledge of Rozina’s specific revelations about their past marriage.
