Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has sharply criticized former DP Rigathi Gachagua, accusing him of fueling division and attempting to control Mt. Kenya politics through intimidation.
Speaking during a grassroots engagement, Kindiki dismissed Gachagua’s recent remarks as “noise meant to distract the country from real progress.” He insisted that leadership must focus on unity and development, not threats and constant complaints.
Kindiki also challenged Gachagua’s self-declared kingpin status, saying Mt. Kenya cannot be governed by fear or entitlement. “The region chooses leaders through service, not loud politics,” he said.
The clash underscores a growing power battle in Mt. Kenya, with both leaders positioning themselves ahead of 2027 as the rivalry becomes increasingly open and personal.
