Governor Amos Nyaribo has been impeached by the Nyamira County Assembly today

Under Kenya’s process, an impeachment by a county assembly (if it achieved the required two-thirds majority) would now move to the Senate, which must consider the charges and decide whether to remove the governor from office after a hearing. Nyaribo has faced multiple impeachment attempts in recent years; previous motions did not reach the two-thirds threshold.
