As the 2025 national examinations begin across Kenya, the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has intensified its security protocols to ensure the integrity of this year’s exams remains uncompromised.

In collaboration with the Ministry of Education, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), and national security agencies, KNEC has rolled out advanced digital tracking systems for all examination containers across the country. Each container — which stores exam papers for specific regions — is now equipped with GPS tracking and digital monitoring tools to prevent tampering and enhance real-time oversight.

According to KNEC officials, this system allows education officers and security personnel to monitor the exact location and status of each exam container from dispatch to opening time every morning. The tracking data is synchronized with county command centers, ensuring any irregular movement or unauthorized access triggers immediate alerts.

Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu emphasized that the government is fully committed to ensuring fairness and transparency during the examination period. “The integrity of our national exams is a national priority. With these new systems, no container can be opened without proper authorization, and every movement is monitored,” he stated.

Security has also been heightened at exam storage centers, with police officers stationed 24 hours a day. Only authorized personnel, including the Sub-County Director of Education and the Deputy County Commissioner, are permitted to access the containers.

Teachers, exam supervisors, and invigilators have been urged to maintain vigilance and report any suspicious activities immediately. The government reiterated its zero-tolerance policy toward exam malpractice, warning that anyone caught compromising exam integrity will face severe legal consequences.

As the examinations continue smoothly across the country, parents and educators have praised the enhanced security, noting that such measures restore public confidence in the credibility of Kenya’s national assessments.

With technology and strict oversight in place, KNEC’s efforts this year mark a new era of accountability and transparency in Kenya’s education system.
