The sudden passing of Kariobangi North MCA Joel Munuve has stirred emotions and ignited a wave of speculation across Nairobi. Known for his unwavering stance on integrity and accountability, Munuve was a fearless leader who never shied away from asking the hard questions.

As an independent candidate navigating the often turbulent waters of Nairobi politics, his presence was a beacon for those craving transparency in governance. On the day of his demise, Munuve was reportedly heading to town when he experienced intense chest pains.
Despite efforts to rush him to a hospital along Kiambu Road, he succumbed before receiving any medical intervention. The news of his death shocked the county assembly and the broader public, sparking concerns and theories around the circumstances leading to his collapse.
The tension surrounding Munuve’s death has only grown with revelations that he was set to table a motion seeking the impeachment of Governor Johnson Sakaja. This development, paired with his recent demand for clarity on the county’s school feeding programme, ‘Dishi na County,’ has raised eyebrows and intensified calls for a comprehensive investigation.
Governor Sakaja, in a televised interview, urged the public to avoid premature conclusions, stating that the results of a government-conducted autopsy would soon be made public. However, the process has since been delayed.
Lawyer Danstan Omari, speaking on behalf of Munuve’s family, confirmed the postponement, citing the need for involvement from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). The family, the County Assembly, and the government will each have pathologists present during the postmortem to ensure objectivity and transparency.
Munuve's passing has left a vacuum not just in the assembly but in the heart of a community that saw in him a champion of the people.
