Gachagua: “Impeached or Not, I’m Here to Save Kenya!”
Rigathi Gachagua says he remains a leader despite impeachment and is forming a new party to fix Kenya’s economy and restore Mt Kenya’s dignity.

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has declared that he is not stepping away from leadership despite his impeachment. Speaking passionately in an interview on Weru TV Sunday night, Gachagua reiterated that he remains committed to addressing the economic challenges facing the country and restoring the dignity of the Mt Kenya region.

"I was not impeached by the people. I was impeached by MPs who did not elect me," Gachagua said."Impeached or not, I am still a leader, and that is why people listen to me everywhere I go."

Gachagua emphasized that his political journey is focused on two main pillars: rescuing Kenya's struggling economy and redeeming the Mt Kenya community’s pride. He painted a grim picture of the country's current state, citing rampant corruption and poor governance as reasons Kenya is veering off course.

In a bold move aimed at consolidating his influence, Gachagua revealed plans to launch a new political party in May 2025. He stressed that this party would actively involve young people, with a Gen Z youth leader serving as deputy party leader. According to him, this approach will ensure the Mt Kenya region and indeed the country does not get "duped" again in the 2027 general election.

Gachagua's new mission comes amid his growing criticism of President William Ruto’s administration. Since his ouster, the former Deputy President has positioned himself as an alternative voice, rallying like-minded leaders from different regions to form a new national front.

"I am working with leaders from all over Kenya. Our country needs saving, and we must act now," he said.

As political temperatures begin to rise ahead of 2027, Gachagua's next steps, particularly the unveiling of his new party, will be keenly watched by both supporters and critics
