Kenya’s most celebrated football club, Gor Mahia FC, has officially parted ways with its entire technical bench, including interim head coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno, following a trophyless 2024/25 season.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the club termed the move a “mutual separation,” adding that it comes after a comprehensive internal review of the team's performance.
The decision follows Gor Mahia’s shocking 2-1 loss to FKF Cup finalists Nairobi United, who play in the National Super League (NSL). That loss marked the end of a season filled with disappointment, as the 21-time league champions finished behind newly crowned champions Police FC, and struggled in continental competitions.
Club chairman Ambrose Rachier acknowledged the work of the outgoing staff, stating:
“We extend our sincere gratitude to the individuals involved for their commitment, professionalism, and service to the Club during their tenure.”
While the previous bench led Gor Mahia to the 2023/24 league title, the 2024/25 season fell far below expectations leading to growing pressure from fans and stakeholders.
The club says the changes are part of a broader restructuring process aimed at enhancing both technical and operational strength. Rachier further assured supporters that announcements regarding the club’s new technical setup will be made soon.
As K’Ogalo enters a new rebuilding phase, fans will be watching closely to see what changes lie ahead in the 2025/26 season. The hope remains that Gor Mahia will rise again stronger, better, and ready to reclaim their place at the top.
