    What was meant to be one of the proudest moments in a parent’s life ended in unimaginable tragedy.

    Bishop Josiah Onyancha, a respected former Kisii gubernatorial aspirant, and his beloved wife lost their lives in a devastating road accident in Narok County on the evening of August 6, 2025.

    The couple was en route to Nairobi to witness their son, Edwin Nyarangi, graduate from Mount Kenya University, a milestone every parent dreams of celebrating.

    According to reports, the accident involved a head-on collision along the Narok-Mai Mahiu highway. It brought a sudden, painful halt to a journey that symbolized love, sacrifice, and hope. The couple had travelled with joy and anticipation, eager to share in their son's academic achievement.

    Sadly, they never made it.

    Edwin Nyarangi, a journalist and the proud graduate they were coming to celebrate, was left in deep mourning the joy of graduation eclipsed by the heavy shadow of loss. The news has shaken many, especially in Kisii County where Bishop Onyancha was widely known for his spiritual guidance and leadership. His earlier political bid for the governor’s seat had endeared him to a community that admired his integrity and passion for service.
