Rarieda Member of Parliament Otiende Amollo has issued a stern warning to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, citing continued use of divisive and tribal language in public forums.
Speaking during a fundraising event in Rongo on Sunday, Otiende indicated that Parliament could invoke Article 75(3) of the Constitution, which bars individuals removed from office on grounds of misconduct from holding any public office in the future.
Gachagua, who was impeached by the Senate in 2024, has been on a political offensive against President William Ruto, drawing criticism from leaders within the Kenya Kwanza coalition and the broader bipartisan government. Many have accused him of promoting ethnic divisions and undermining national unity.
Otiende emphasized that Gachagua's recent actions show he never took accountability following his impeachment:
“Everyday you speak, we realize you never learnt your lesson. We now want to remind you that we impeached you under Article 75. We did not go far enough—we only impeached you.”
The Rarieda MP’s remarks come amid growing concerns over the rise of tribal rhetoric in the political landscape, with increasing calls for leaders to uphold unity and respect constitutional values.
