KEBS Denies Claims of Contaminated Sugar in Kenyan Market

    The Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) has strongly refuted claims circulating in the media about the presence of contaminated sugar in the Kenyan market.

    In an official statement issued on Thursday, August 1, 2025, KEBS stated that no sugar consignment deemed unfit for human consumption has been cleared for release. The agency reaffirmed its commitment to public health, emphasizing that all sugar whether imported or locally produced undergoes strict quality and safety checks before it reaches consumers.

    KEBS remains committed to safeguarding the health and safety of consumers. Any product found to be substandard or hazardous is not permitted into the market,” the statement read.
